Forgiveness is Hard
by cindy
August Wilson, that extraordinary playwright whose work I have always loved, once wrote:
When the sins of our fathers visit us
We do not have to play host.
We can banish them with forgiveness
As God, in His Largeness and Laws.
Yesterday was not a good day. A situation occurred which triggered memories I thought had been long banished. After all these years I discovered otherwise. Forgiveness is hard. It requires vigilance and effort; I continue to be a work in progress. Today is better. Tomorrow will be better still.
We—I—do not have to play host.
